Composite Utility Pole Backfill
Q-Set 250
Q-Set 250 is a hydrophobic two-part polyurethane Composite Backfill that expands to fill the peripheral void between a utility pole and the hole. It forms low-density, high-strength composite that can structurally support the pole and maintain its upright positioning. It expands immediately after mixing and reaches 50% of full strength in approximately 3 minutes. Q-Set 250 can be used to install new poles or provide a new solid foundation to straighten and stabilize a pole.
Features:
- The pole foundation is solid without the need for good soil tamping
- Displays excellent adhesion to pole treatment materials such as pentachlorophenol, CCA and ACA. Q-Set 250 has excellent adhesion to wood, steel, concrete, and fiberglass poles
- The composite bond to a wood pole reduces the risk of pole deterioration at its most vulnerable location, 1 ft (30 cm) below the surface
- Q-Set 250 is dielectric and its bond around a steel pole reduces the risk of premature corrosion that occurs because of stray DC current in the earth from sources such as a nearby DC transmission line, a mining operation, a welding operation or cathodic protection used to protect a pipeline
- Because Q-Set 250 is hydrophobic (insensitive to water), the physical properties of the composite will not be affected by wet soil or small amounts of standing water in the hole, as long as the standing water does not exceed 2” (5 cm) with the structure in the hole
Packaging:
Q-Set 250 is available in 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9 cu ft kits containing Part A (jug or pail), Part B (jug), gloves and Instruction Sheet. Yields are estimated @ 77°F (25°C) and will vary slightly with temperature. Custom packaging is also available to meet your specific needs.
